The story of three working-class lads from Nottingham growing up in an era of economic and social unrest in the 1960's and 1970's who against all odds, went on to become unlikely heroes and reach the pinnacle of professional football.  Viv Anderson, the first black player to win a full England cap, former carpet fitter Garry Birtles and Tony Woodcock who hails from the mining village of Eastwood became champions of England and Europe with unfashionable Nottingham Forest under the mercurial management of Brian Clough.  All three recount their stories as they reveal life-changing events which took place during filming.  Local Heroes also includes interviews with Kevin Keegan, Martin O'Neill, Ian Storey-Moore and Alan Hill and is narrated by actor, Gary Webster.
